We spent this past weekend in Vermont with Colin's cousin Dustin and his wife Sandra and their boys Leif and Kieran. Colin and Dustin grew up together in Oregon, and somehow they both ended up on the east coast living just 3 hours from each other. We don't get to see them nearly as often as we would like because life gets busy for all of us, but it's always a fun time when we do get together.

Labor Day Weekend in Vermont
Colin and Dustin had a light saber war with Leif and Kieran. It was too close to call a winner!
Sandra made us lots of yummy food. We also went to the Champlain Valley fair and saw the Zac Brown Band in concert. Colin and I had seen them a couple years ago in New Hampshire and they were as good as we remembered. If you get the chance to see them- do it! They put on such a great show.
My brother texted me while we were on our way to the fair and said that he had just watched a tv show where a couple was talking about the "points" on their diet and he thought of me and Colin. I told him that we weren't counting points this weekend because we were on vacation and that I was on my way to have fair food for dinner. He said we are always on vacation. He may be right!
There is something about going to the fair that takes you back to being a kid. Like Dustin said, you can't beat the smell of the food- or the smell of the carnies! lol I'm pretty sure there is a rule that while at the fair you have to have fair food! We hadn't been to a fair in over 10 years, and now I think I should stay away from them for another 10! I am WEAK when it comes to fair food. Corn dogs, french fries, fried dough, kettle corn, and my latest discovery- deep fried oreos. SERIOUSLY! We ate ALL that! Oh- and Colin had some yummy bbq too. Not that I sampled any...he just told me it was yummy. Yeah, right! Like we always say when we are on vacation- go big or go home. Well, we went big while we were there, and we went home a couple pounds bigger! Is there anything better than bonding over good food and good company? I don't think so!
We're back home now and it's time to get back on track with the diet and working out. We have just enough time to lose the weight we gained from this vacation so we can put it back on again when we go to Maine for Colin's birthday next month! :)
